Viettel Post Joint Stock Corporation (Viettel Post) will invest in building two large logistics centers in China, including the China-ASEAN Agricultural Products Trading Center in Pingxiang City and the Logistics Center in Nanning City…

Late in the afternoon of March 7, 2024, Viettel Post Joint Stock Corporation (Viettel Post, under Viettel Military Industry and Telecommunications Group) officially signed an agreement with Pingxiang City (China) to cooperate in establishing a representative office and building a China-ASEAN agricultural products trading center.

Previously, Viettel Post also signed an agreement with the Nanning City government to focus on cooperation in developing logistics and cross-border trade between China and Vietnam.

With the above agreements, Viettel Post will invest in building two large logistics centers in China including: ASEAN-China Fruit Trading Center in Pingxiang City and Logistics Center in Nanning to introduce and promote trade connections between the two countries with items such as: agricultural products, seafood, medicinal herbs, etc., providing cross-border multimodal transport services on both railways, roads and waterways between Vietnam and China.

The above activities are also a stepping stone towards establishing an association of enterprises in the field of import-export logistics between the two countries to optimize costs and shorten the time of goods circulation.

According to Viettel Post, from March 5-7, 2024, this enterprise worked with the city government and enterprises in Nanning and Pingxiang to reach many official agreements.

Specifically, in Nanning, Viettel Post signed a cooperation agreement with the Nanning City government on cooperation in developing logistics and cross-border trade between China and Vietnam, thereby Viettel Post is the first logistics unit in Vietnam to cooperate with local authorities in China to complete the cross-border transport network infrastructure to optimize logistics costs, shorten transportation time, improve the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods, and enhance Vietnam’s logistics position in connecting countries in the ASEAN region and China.

In Bang Tuong City, Viettel Post also reached an agreement with businesses with three main contents. First, the two sides will cooperate to effectively exploit multimodal transport switching between Yen Vien – Dong Dang – Bang Tuong – Nanning intermodal road – railway. Second, the two sides will cooperate to establish a China – ASEAN Agricultural Products Trading Center. Third, the two sides will learn and exchange designs, techniques, and technologies to jointly promote the implementation of smart border gates.

Mr. Hoang Trung Thanh, General Director of Viettel Post, said that the above investment promotion and cooperation activities of Viettel Post aim to implement the logistics infrastructure planning strategy including parks – logistics centers, bonded warehouses, dry ports to connect raw material areas, agricultural areas, seafood with railway, sea, airport and border gates to reduce time and cost of goods circulation.

In a recent sharing with VnEconomy, Mr. Hoang Trung Thanh said that Vietnam has a particularly favorable geographical location to become an international logistics center connecting the 700 million-population ASEAN market with 1.4 billion people in China and connecting with countries in the Indian Ocean and Pacific region with the least time and most optimal cost.

Therefore, with many advantages in geographical location, Vietnam needs to be oriented to become a global logistics center, connecting goods between ASEAN with China and the world; Therefore, it is necessary to build a global logistics center, a global logistics Hub. Because it is a Hub, goods will be concentrated in Vietnam and then transferred to other directions via road, rail, and waterway. This, according to Mr. Thanh, will also contribute to promoting Vietnam to become a center for agricultural product trading between Vietnam, China, ASEAN, and the world.
