Between the two times Mr. Donald Trump was elected, how has Vietnam – US trade changed?
According to the latest preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, by the end of September 2024, the total import-export turnover between the two countries reached 99.12 billion USD, nearly 3 times higher than the same period in 2016.
Specifically, by the end of September 2016, bilateral trade between Vietnam and the United States reached 34.21 billion USD.
By the end of September 2024, Vietnam’s export turnover to the United States reached 88.16 billion USD, an increase of 211.85% over the same period in 2016 (equivalent to an increase of nearly 60 billion USD).
Meanwhile, Vietnam’s imports from the United States reached 10.96 billion USD, an increase of 84.5% (equivalent to an increase of more than 5 billion USD).
Thus, between the two times Mr. Donald Trump was elected, bilateral trade between Vietnam and the United States grew very strongly.
For many years, the United States has been Vietnam’s largest export market and our country’s second largest trading partner.
According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam-US trade reached the 100 billion USD mark for the first time in 2021 (reaching 111.55 billion USD).
Entering 2022, despite facing many difficulties due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, Vietnam – US trade still has remarkable growth with a turnover of nearly 124 billion USD.
In 2023, Vietnam – US trade will reach about 11 billion USD.
With the results achieved in the first 9 months of 2024, this year will certainly be the 4th consecutive year that trade between the two countries has reached the hundred billion USD mark.
