Fresh Vietnamese jackfruit is officially exported to China

On November 27, 2025, in Beijing, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang and Deputy Director General of the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) Zhao Zenglian signed a Protocol on exporting fresh jackfruit from Vietnam to China, marking an important step forward in agricultural trade cooperation between the two countries…

The event took place on the second working day of Minister Tran Duc Thang in China, within the framework of his visit from November 26-28. Also attending the working session with GACC were leaders of units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

Speaking at the working session, Mr. Zhao Zenglian emphasized the “long-term, friendly and good” cooperative relationship between Vietnam and China, and said that 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, with many delegation exchanges and important events being held. This working trip of Minister Tran Duc Thang continues to affirm the effective cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam and GACC.

Minister Tran Duc Thang and the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment worked with the General Department of Customs of China on the morning of November 27.

Highly appreciating the results achieved in agricultural trade in 2025, Mr. Trieu Tang Lien said that by the end of October 2025, China had imported 8.7 billion USD worth of agricultural products from Vietnam, demonstrating the close coordination between the agencies of the two countries and the active support of the Vietnamese Embassy in China.

This year, we have signed 4 Protocols on the export of chili, passion fruit, rice bran and raw bird’s nest. Today, we continue to sign the Protocol on the export of fresh jackfruit from Vietnam to China. This will create new momentum for agricultural trade between the two countries.” Mr. Zhao Zenglian, Deputy Director General of the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).

“China always attaches importance to trade with Vietnam and is ready to open its market for quality agricultural products,” Mr. Zhao Zenglian affirmed; at the same time, emphasizing that with the role of the agency responsible for quarantine and opening the market, GACC is committed to making efforts to implement the common goals agreed upon by the leaders of the two Parties and the two States.

The GACC representative also expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese authorities, contributing to building a community that shares the future of Vietnam and China.

Expressing his joy at continuing to promote cooperation with GACC, Minister Tran Duc Thang affirmed: “The leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam always attach importance to promoting cooperation with China in many fields, especially agriculture and the environment.”

The Minister emphasized the important role of the Chinese market in import and export activities of Vietnam, citing figures: two-way turnover in the first 10 months of 2025 was higher than the total value of the whole year of 2024. From an industry perspective, the Minister said that cooperation in the fields of agriculture, forestry and fisheries needs to be paid more attention and promoted more strongly in the coming time.

In addition to trade, Minister Tran Duc Thang mentioned the potential for investment cooperation between the two countries, especially when Vietnam and China have a great advantage in sharing a border, creating favorable conditions for trade.

“I hope that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and GACC will continue to exchange and promote cooperation, especially in quarantine and market opening”, the Minister expressed; at the same time, he thanked GACC for their active coordination so that the two sides could sign the Protocol on fresh jackfruit export on this occasion.

Within the framework of the working session, the two sides also exchanged more professional contents related to the import and export activities of agriculture, forestry and fisheries between Vietnam and China, towards strengthening coordination and developing more sustainable bilateral trade in the coming time.
